I recently discovered Getoutoftherecat and thought this would be great for ferrets. Ferrets are michevious, determined, and small. They can and will get into unwanted places and get into unwanted things. If you have a picture of a ferret doing something unwanted but cute submit the picture. Only the pictures tagged with mine are my ferrets, the others are found via the web or submissions. I post pictures that make you say What are you doing?
Anonymous asked: When we first got our second ferret, we named him Pudgy because he was literally ate and ate and was just really pudgy and chubby and cute. However, within a week of having him, his name changed to Satan because he was like the devil in a masked fuzz ball. While he has calmed down and gotten better, we never got around to changing it to something else because he responds to Satan and comes when called. It's amusing to tell people one of our ferrets is names Satan whereas the other is just Whitey.

All my boys have name stories!

Fizzgig - ever since I discovered ferrets as a kid I wanted to name my first Fizzgig after the flaily little creature from The dark Crystal. Fizzy was my first, 23 years later - he got bestowed the name.
Scrat - we couldn’t name him at first, then he started hording things.. then we realised it was one specific toy and he would go to great lengths to try and find it each time. Much like Skrat from Ice Age. The name stuck, although with a typo.
Rolo - Rolo was a rescue ferret and had a lot of psychological issues. Originally called “Blaze” he was kept in a group of un neutered hobs, all with horrific physical injuries caused by fighting - he was the only one we were able to rehome from there (the others went to a rescue). When we got him home he had a lot of problems, he’d never been handled, had never played and was very viscous - it took over a month to introduce him to Fizzgig and Scrat after he was neutered and nearly 3 months until he was comfortable being held. He used to pace a lot and spent most of his time rolling around the bottom of the cage to begin with - a friend of ours started calling him our “Roly Poly Ferret” which got shortened to “Rolo”. The name stuck though and now I call him “My Only Rolo” - you wouldn’t give anyone your last Rolo so why on earth would you consider giving away your only one?
Nico - Ah. Nico. Nico took 4 days to name, we got him while a friend was visiting (who was our transport for picking him up) and said friend happened to bring his copy of Grand Theft Auto 4 with him. My housemate was keen on the game and it was pretty much a daily play on our TV - In the game you play a character called “Niko Bellic” who is constantly getting phonecalls from his cousin, Roman with “hey Niko you wanna go bowling?” “hey Niko you wanna go meet some ladies?” etc and a big focus of his Romans was taking Niko to “see ladies with the biiiiiig titties” (apologies for that!). Nico was obsessed with hiding inside my shirt within a day of us getting him. I’m a lady. Yeah. My ferret is named after a guy who gets pressured to look at boobs.

higginsandbro asked: Higgins' name was originally Wade, which I didn't like at all. I asked around for better name suggestions, and was hooked on Reuben for a while, until my boyfriend suggested "Captain Higgins" as a joke. The more I thought about it, the more it stuck, and it totally fits him! Little Brother kept his original name, but gained many nicknames; tubby, deaf one, teddy bear, etc. They're pretty self-explanatory :)

Anonymous asked: Do you think ferrets and hedgehogs could be friends?

Answer:

I don’t think so. The ferret may be curious and want to play but the hedgehog could care less so it’d get bored. I think the ferret would be too hyper for hedgehog.

I found this video on youtube of a ferret meeting a hedgehog. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnVe0GfAOGw

fate-hates-faraday asked: So, ferret names, huh? I've got a good tale. See, at my dad's workplace, he was well-known as the 'ferret guy'. One day, he entered his office to find a cage containing two ferrets, both a greyish-tan sort of color. We named them Socks and Mittens, due to their paws being darker than the rest of their bodies. Now, we already had a couple of ferrets, so we had to bathe Socks and Mittens before we could put them with the rest. Turns out they were actually grey and white; their 'socks' were filth.

jaderian asked: Spencer's name was Snatcher when I got him. The previous owners named him so because he liked to snatch tampons from the box in the bathroom and unwrap them and play with them then hide them under the couch to drag out when company came over. I couldn't exactly call him that so I renamed him Spencer.
